Postbank has launched a text banking service, enabling customers obtain personal financial information through instant short message service (SMS) requests.
Managing Director Nyambura Koigi said the value added service would enable customers carry out banking and other services without necessarily going into banking halls.
"Postbank customers can access banking services at their convenience at their homes, work places while on the move or anywhere," she said.
She said the service would be available to customers registered for the bank’s text banking service. Ms Koigi was speaking during the launch of the new service in Nairobi yesterday. The services on offer include account credit notification, balance enquiry, bank charges and new services notification, purchase of airtime and mini-statement request.
Postbank recently automated the banking services through the Point of Sale Terminals (POS) in all its 90 branches countrywide.
Koigi said the introduction of the services as key milestones for the bank and underscored determination to improve service delivery to her customers.
"Postbank has made banking easier and a great experience and the first bank to offer banking through Point of Sale Terminals at the teller location in a branch," she said.
Customers can transact through the POS terminals in all branches or withdraw cash from the bank’s Cash Express ATMs.
