Oshwal Academy of Nyali were crowned the boys and girls’ champions during the Coast Open and Relays junior swimming gala.

The winners, who were also hosts of the swimming extravaganza, saw most of their players dominate during the hotly contested championship at the weekend.

In the boy’s category, swimmers from Oshwal Academy, Nyali, were declared the overall winners after amassing a total of 309 points. They were followed in the second place by Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, who collected 279 points.

Placed third

Mombasa Academy were placed third after amassing 270 points, while Coast Swim Club who had had 229 points settled for the fourth slot. Nyali Primary School were fifth with 126 points, Tiny Tots Kindergarten with 27 points were fifth, while Dolphins had 15 points for the sixth place. Blue Ocean Swim Club trailed with two points.

In the girls’ category, Oshwal Academy, Nyali, were declared the overall winners with 370 points and were followed by Mombasa Academy and Aga Khan Academy Mombasa with 280 and 240 points.

Nyali Primary School had 157 points, Coast Swim Club scored 129, while Coast Swim Club, Nyali, had 24 points. Tiny Tots Kindergarten were bottom placed with 22 points.

Coast Swim Club dominated the boys and girls’ relays with Michaelo Ambaar of Oshwal Academy, Nyali, and Maria Brunlehner of Mombasa Academy winning most of the girls’ events.

Telvin Kameta of Nyali Primary School had good runs in his events as did Karan Khagram and Preet Savola both of Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.
