A pastor claims his life is in danger after allegedly being thrown out of is matrimonial home in Kiamburu village of Githunguri, Kiambu County.

George Kamau Kirugi says he cannot go back to his home for fear of being attacked by a gang he claims is on his wife Elizabeth Njeri Gachahi’s payroll.

Kamau is a pastor at Kamchege African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA). For the last four years, the man of God and his wife have been squabbling over property and trading infidelity accusations.

Matters took a turn for the worse on January 16, 2023 when Kamau walked out of his matrimonial home and rented a house at Gitombe shopping centre.

A year later, the couple is still fighting over control of property. The 63-year-old claims that his wife has disinherited him of his hard-earned wealth. Among the properties Kamau alleges he has no access to include his two-acre piece of land where he had invested in houses and livestock, a rental house in Kayole, a Toyota Probox car and a motorbike.

The retired social worker employed by City Hall and based at Wakulima and Muthurwa markets claims his wife has refused to surrender ownership documents of the properties solely registered in his name.

Kamau accuses police officers of not helping him despite lodging complaints at Kibichio Police Station under OB 09/05/4/2022, OB 24/12/04/2022 and 19/09/12/2023.

Similar complaints have made at Ruiru Police Station (OB 46/16/10/2023) and Githunguri Police Station under OB 32/11/12/2023.

“I have literally exhausted my energy and resources in search of justice. Unfortunately, there is no help forthcoming from all the police stations I have gone to. The disinterested officers keep tossing me from one station to the other,” he laments.

The father of eight, five from his first marriage and three with Njeri is appealing to police headquarters to intervene and have his ‘lost’ title deed, plot allotment letter and log books recovered.

“I am aware my wife wants to sell some of my property. I will be left with nothing if her intention is not stopped. I opened and stocked for her a shop but she is not satisfied and now wants to dispossess me of my car and motorcycle,” claims Kamau.

But the wife denied any wrongdoing and instead accused Kamau of walking away from their marriage.

“He is not being honest but just tarnishing my name. My husband is the one who left our home and started living with widowed women after selling our livestock, in fact he left with the bed and all beddings,” said Njeri.

Contrary to accusations that she has blocked her estranged husband from accessing the car and motorbike, Njeri claimed they agreed to share some of the property.

“He took the Pick-Up vehicle while the Probox is mine. He cannot claim ownership for everything yet we accumulated the properties while living together as wife and husband,” said Njeri.

The woman dismissed as lies that she has hired a gang to intimidate her husband. “Those are serious allegations against me, I will take action by reporting him to police to show proof. And in any case, police are aware of our dispute,” she said.

Githunguri Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Ali Kingi said the matter is under investigation. According to Kingi, preliminary investigations show Kamau walked out of his home and started living with another woman.

“Initially we were investigating a matter of a stolen vehicle. The complainant (Kamau) claimed his Probox was stolen only for investigators to establish the said car is under the custody of his wife who fears that the husband might dispossess her of everything after selling the Pick-Up vehicle,” explained the SCCIO while assuring that efforts were being made to reconcile the couple.
