Chris Msando's mother dies as the wait for justice for Msando continues

The mother of former electoral commission ICT manager Chris Msando, Mary Aloo, has died.

Aloo, 85, died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu.

According to her daughter Alice Msando, she was hospitalized in Busia with high blood pressure where she was given some medicine to stabilize the pressure.

“The pressure went so low and she was thereafter rushed to Avenue Hospital in Kisumu where she was admitted to ICU but unfortunately passed at 1am,” she said.

In the run-up to the August 9, 2022, General Election, she appealed to Kenyans to make a wise decision in elections by electing a leader who will steer the country forward and protect it from any internal or external aggression.

According to her family, she has never recovered from the brutal murder of her son in 2017 and has been hoping for justice. Since Msando's murder in 2017, Mary has been in and out of hospitals, with close relatives claiming she never recovered from the shock.

"Since Chris died I have been in so much pain. Even his children have been really disturbed. We are yet to get justice in court," she told The Standard in a past interview.

Msando was found dead on July 28, 2017, four days after disappearing during the run-up to the 2017 General Election.

His body was found dumped at Muguga Forest in Kikuyu, Kiambu County alongside the body of a young woman.

The family said the body of their mother has been transferred to Sega as burial plans begin.

They said their mother died while still in agony over the 2017 brutal murder of her son.

Siaya Governor James Orengo condoled with the family, describing the late Aloo as a family matriarch who had a magnetic personality and the ability to care deeply for others.

“This allowed her to cultivate many lasting relationships. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” said Orengo.
