More than 20,000 traders in Siaya County will benefit from a Sh500 million aggregation and industrial park to be constructed in Got Akara, Alego Usonga.

The park will attract domestic and international investors and offer a conducive business environment. The park will have modern infrastructure including roads, utilities and communication facilities, making it an ideal location for a wide range of industries.

Speaking during the groundbreaking yesterday, Trade CS Moses Kuria described the project a breakthrough in the quest to improve production.

The industrial park is among projects Governor James Orengo's administration is pursuing in collaboration with the national government to revamp Siaya's economy. "Let us keep ourselves busy by changing the lives of our people. We can focus on development for these years before election but even when election comes, we can decide to walk together," said Kuria.

Governor James Orengo said the park will be located at Got Akara on 32.4 hectares and that it will change the face of the region and open it up for business. "Over the course of the next 18 months, we will witness the transformation of this piece of land into a thriving hub of economic activity that will generate lasting benefits for Siaya County and its residents," said Orengo.

He noted that the project will increase jobs and enhance overall quality of life. "The industries and businesses that will set up operations within the park will boost economic activity. This growth will stimulate trade, investment and ultimately lead to a stronger local economy," he noted.

The project is expected to also improve innovation and skill development and agricultural transformation. Speaker George Okode praised MCAs for approving its implementation.

Mr Okode also assured residents that MCAs will allocate and appropriate adequate funds for the project.
