Rapper Hurbert Nakitare's initiative on raising awareness of albinism has seen him feted globally in the just concluded Afro Awards' maiden edition in Los Angeles at the Regal La Live Arena.

Nonini won the Humanitarian category after his works supporting albinos and providing sunscreen were recognised.

Although he was feted in absentia, Kenya's Big Ted, received the award on his behalf and went on to thank the team behind the success.

Hours later, Nonini shared his gratitude and promised that he was going to do more charities in Kenya and beyond.

"This is the most priceless and precious award I have ever received in my entire career as a Musician! Thank you @afroawards2022; apologies I was not able to make it physically to the ceremony. Jah Bless, " read the post in part.

"I will be launching a new foundation in the US to support my charity causes in Kenya and many more," he said.
