A man who killed his epileptic and "demon-possessed" mother for failing to pay his school fees has been found guilty of murder.
Justice Jairus Ngaah ruled that there was sufficient evidence to prove Charles Ngunjiri murdered his mother Gladys Njeri by slitting her throat on the night of September 11, 2011, at Gachuiro village in Mathira, Nyeri County, after a domestic disagreement.
“Evidence produced proved that the accused had a strained relationship with his mother and finally thought he had had enough. He hit her, snatched a knife from her grip and used it to slit her throat to the extent of almost decapitating her,” said Justice Ngaah.

Ms Njeri lived with her only son who was in secondary school at the time.
Villagers and neighbours said she was demon-possessed as she was in the habit of wailing, making weird noise at night.
