Mike Mondo has caught the attention of many listeners with his engaging radio persona and sultry voice.
For the most part, he does his evening show with Terry Muikamba on Classic 105 and once in a while he steps in for Maina Kageni in the morning show.
Many have noticed how strikingly similar he sounds to radio legend Maina Kageni and even point out that he could be the next Maina Kageni.
A sentiment he does not take too kindly. He expressed his frustration recently after being hosted by Amina stating that he finds it annoying to be compared to Maina.
‘’People say I sound like Maina Kageni but I think we just talk in a similar way,” he said, ‘’People say that a lot, that I am the next big thing or whatever way they put it but I don’t necessarily see myself that way. I see myself as a person who wants to create his own niche.

“I mean Maina is a legend but you know there also has to be Mike Mondo’s path, that is what I want. It’s annoying to be compared... I do my radio shows the best way I can but every time I do it people are like ‘Oh my God you are like the next Maina!’ and I want to be the first Mike Mondo. There can only be one Maina Kageni.’’
Mondo made his radio debut in Hot 96 followed by a stint at X FM before moving to Classic 105. He is a registered nurse who quit the profession for radio. He is also the father to a beautiful daughter
