Beauty and the Beast the new 2017 movie is a remake of Disney’s original film meant for a contemporary audience.
It follows the story of Belle (Emma Watson) who’s a book-loving village girl living with her dad Maurice (Kevin Kline).
Her father gets lost in the woods and after being chased by a pack of hungry wolves, he comes across an enchanted castle, the home of the Beast (Dan Stevens).
Maurice is taken captive by the Beast prompting his bright and vivacious daughter Belle to come looking.
Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Thumbs up
Nerve racking action scenes are bound to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The musicals in the movie beautifully convey the characters’ emotions. Feelings of anger, frustration, joy and finally, love is efficiently channelled through song.
Humour comes to play throughout the movie thus, lightening the mood.
Thumbs Down
Disney introduces an openly gay character, LeFou (Josh Gad) which kills the vibe in the original film.
The movie has some violent scenes that might frighten young viewers.
Verdict
This is definitely a movie to watch! I would recommend watching the movie in 3D for the best possible experience.
