When a pal mentioned that a Rongai matatu had installed LED screens on its floor, I laughed it off.

Being a fan of R&B music, I assumed too much of Jay Z’s music videos were impinging on his imagination. I decided to check it out and honestly, I was impressed.

The rotating floor projector screen was just riveting. Upon taking a seat in the mathree going by the name of Catalyst, I was blown away. The seats were comfy, installed with small screens at the back, and for sports lovers, an EPL match is just a click away.

The mathree which started operating on December 5 under Oromats Sacco, has a total of 40 screens, a including 52-inch at the front and a 20-inch at the back.

Sadam Musa, one of the crew, told Ma3 Culture that, “Apart from the colourful snake lights around the floor, the vehicle is also fitted with 350 bulbs.”

The dere, Kevin Mbugua aka Transporter, added  that,“Catalyst is also the first nganya with AME rims meant for Mercedes Benz only, and an imitation of Prado rims for its rear wheels.”

Catalyst has  four woofers and 10 mid-range speakers.
