The management of Club 1824 along Lang’ata Road now attributes business rivalry to the current pressure to close, coming from the Nairobi County.

After Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero ordered that the club be closed for "operating for 24-hours", George Luta, who runs the premises says the lounge has complied with the law.

“At no point do we operate beyond 4am in the morning. The only time that happened was during Floyd Mayweather-Pacquiao fight that took place in the morning. I see business rivalry playing a hand in this,” Luta told Pulse.

Kidero had also complained of cars getting parked on the road due to lack of enough space in the club.

Club 1824 is the one of the most popular clubs in Nairobi right now. It started operating six months ago and it is the place you are likely to find the who’s-who in the entertainment scene when they party.
