Athletics fraternity and local leaders are set to raise funds today for funeral expenses for the late track champion David Kiprono Lelei.
The Harambee, to be presided by Agriculture Minister William Ruto and more than 18 MPs from the region, will be held at Kenmosa village starting at 2pm
According to former 800m Commonwealth champion Japhet Kimutai, Lelei, who died in a grisly road accident at Mbaruk bridge on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway last Wednesday, will be buried on Friday at his home village, Kapsaret in Wareng District.
"We are conducting a major harambee tomorrow (Wednesday) where local leaders and senior athletes are expected. We are also finalising plans to rest his body on Friday," said Kimutai, who is the chairman of the funeral organising committee.
