Mutula is an event organiser.
His schedules are usually busy, especially over weekends,
travelling away to give clients amazing events.
This all came to a standstill when the Government issued a
pause on large public gatherings to contain the spread of the Covid-19. Just like that, he was out of work as clients cancelled or
postponed.
His wife too, was affected. The company she works for told
them to stay at home and her flights cancelled.

So there they were, Mr. and Mrs. Mutula forced to stay at
home till an unknown time, in uncharted territories. Their three children too,
not going to school due to the pandemic.
As all of them stayed at home, something beautiful happened.
They were all conditioned to spend more time with each other.
During this period, Mr. and Mrs. Mutula stopped being too
busy for each other. In the midst of washing hands, they opened up to each
other and washed each other's souls.
Mr. Mutula opened up to his wife about his addiction to
pornography; Mrs. Mutula shared with her husband about her low self-esteem
issues. Mr. Mutula got to share with his wife how he sometimes feels
disrespected by her tone, she never knew, she apologised for it; Mrs. Mutula
expressed to her husband how she feels so lonely in the marriage, he hugged
her. Mr. Mutula opened up about how the death of his mother still affects him;
Mrs. Mutula shared with him about her dreams in life. This moment of social
distancing made them closer to each other, they reminisced on how far they have
come, they laughed afresh together, they rekindled their flame, they made love
like never before.
This time spent at home also bettered their bond with their
children who for the first time had extended period with the parents. Mr. and
Mrs. Mutula got to discover their children's passion and talents, they got to
know that one of their children was sexually molested by an uncle two years
ago, this made them feel guilty that they were not present when their children
needed them the most. Mr. and Mrs. Mutula got to play indoor games with the
children and got to mentor them on life skills. They prayed together, read the
Scriptures as a family and grew warmer as a family.
Last night, Mr. Mutula went to bed at night telling his wife
"We are told to give thanks in everything. I am really grateful that in
this period of social distancing, you and I have gone back to our first love
for each other, we have had the best moments as a family despite the anxiety
about the future and work."
Mrs. Mutula kissed him and said "I am glad too. It is
unfortunate that coronavirus had to happen to force us to remember that family
matters. Even when life gets normal, may we always remember to put family
first. Let's not wait for a crisis to love better. I love you."
"I love you too" Mr. Mutula said as he kissed her
lips
