Police are investigating circumstances under which a police officer committed suicide by shooting himself while on duty.
The officer blew himself with an assault rifle at Lugumek Police Station in Chepalungu on Thursday.
Bomet County Police Commandant Naomi Ichami said the officer was manning the report office at the time of the incident.
The commandant said it was not clear what prompted the officer to turn the G-3 rifle he was using on himself while on duty.
“We are investigating why the police officer decided to commit suicide while on duty,” said Ms Ichami.
