Over the weekend, 49 revelers were arrested in Isiolo town and more than 20 shisha pots confiscated during a police operation conducted during curfew hours.   The business owners were among those arrested, according to a joint statement issued by Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi and County Police Commander Joseph Kigen.   The County Commissioner said that it was unfortunate for such a large number of people to share shisha pots at a time when Covid 19 is claiming lives every day. He said that the equipment could be a super spreader of the dreaded virus, calling upon Kenyans especially the youth to be more responsible.   According to Shambi, the police are now on high alert to unearth any other shisha dens within the town, calling upon members of public to cooperate and volunteer crucial information that will help the police to identify and arrest those trading in the outlawed business.   Shambi noted that drug and substance abuse had rendered several local youths totally unproductive in the society, adding that some have been unable to even establish families and raise children, adding that they look way older as a result of drug abuse.   The 49 are expected to be arraigned in court on March 29, morning to answer to charges of being in possession of outlawed substances and contravention of curfew orders.
