Entering Form One is proving elusive for one poor girl in Nyeri.
15-year-old Regina Wairimu is likely to repeat Standard Eight for the third time this year despite scoring quite well in Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE) exams last year if she does not get financial help. She got 324 marks out 500.
In 2013, Wairimu (above), a pupil at Kangaita primary school scored 296 marks in the exams.
She got admission to Dr Kamundia High School, Nyeri but her mother, Leah Wangari, was unable to raise her school fees and she was forced to repeat at the same school. This time she has been offered admission at Mahiga Girls High school and apparently the mother won't afford the fees, again.
"The letter said I would require Sh40,828 for the whole year and I approached my mother but unfortunately she said she cannot raise the fees,"Wairimu noted.
