Kirinyaga, Kenya: Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari has said he will not seek anyone's permission to start development projects in his area.
Mr Gitari said parliamentary service was not a devolved function and he would not seek approval from the leadership to initiate development projects in his constituency.
"Members of Parliament are not subordinate to the county governments and I do not require the permission of the governor to start a project in my area," he said.
Speaking at Kagumo market during the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the area chief's office yesterday, Gitari accused Governor Joseph Ndathi of seeking to "micro-manage" him yet each had their own roles.
