A viral video has captured former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa in a heated confrontation with a group of men at a hotel, where he was seen brandishing a gun.

In the footage, Wamalwa is heard fiercely ordering the men to leave after they allegedly stormed into the premises where he was meeting someone.

"Please, get out! This is a private place!" he shouted, pulling a firearm from his waistband.

"You can't fight at the club!" he added as tensions escalated.

The group, however, appeared undeterred, with one man firing back: "Heshimu party leader! Ameweka party leader kwa mdomo sana! Yeye ni nani huyu? Tutakufunza! You are a nobody!"

The verbal attacks appeared to be directed at a 'Pepela' who is repeatedly mentioned in the video.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation, however, remain unclear.

Unverified reports have speculated that the clash may be linked to a recent hard-hitting speech by former Ford Kenya Trans Nzoia branch secretary general Joseph Pepela, who accused National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula of betraying the Luhya community.

Pepela had dared Wetang'ula to step out of his stronghold for a true test of his influence.

However, this connection has not been independently verified, and neither Wamalwa nor the other parties involved have addressed the incident publicly.

Wamalwa, now chairperson of the KEBS National Standards Council, is a seasoned politician who represented Kiminini Constituency for two terms from 2013 before gunning for the gubernatorial position in 2022, which he lost to George Natembeya.

During his tenure as MP, he served as Minority Party Deputy Whip and sat on key parliamentary committees, including Defence and Foreign Relations, as well as Public Investments.

Before joining politics, Wamalwa lectured at the University of Nairobi and held management roles in the corporate sector.

He has declared interest in the Trans Nzoia governorship in the upcoming election, where his main rivals include former Health CS Susan Nakhumicha and current Kiminini MP Maurice Kakai Bissau.
