Silvio Berlusconi, the man who shafted Italy, finally exits from the stage under a cloud of ignominy

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has gone to be with the Lord, or whomever he worshipped, besides the money and the glamour that he lived for through his 86 years on earth. I hear some folks in Malindi are mourning, as he frequented the coastal township for his raucous parties that he hosted, popularly known as bunga bunga.

Strange, one should think that bunga bunga sounds so close to funga funga, which is Swahili for a takeout, and it's slang for another sort of takeout offered in red-light district of any city. Not that anyone cares, but Berlusconi was notorious for buying sex. In some parts of the world, that isn't a crime at all, though Berlusconi and another powerful man, Donald Trump, got entangled in complex matters relating to sex and money.

Trump's story is complex. He solicited services from a certain Stormy Daniel and when he ran for President, paid her hush money through his lawyer. That, too, isn't a crime. What's criminal is that the payment was recorded as "legal service."

Well, if Trump prefers to receive legal service in that manner, why not let the man be? Anyway, he faced serious jeopardy because he didn't pay tax on the payment, and it wasn't properly recorded in his books of accounts.

Back to Berlusconi: He was convicted ten years ago of paying for sex with a minor. The woman in question was a 17-Moroccan dancer, nicknamed Ruby the Heartstealer. He was still the Prime Minister when he allowed Ruby to steal his heart and other body parts.

Berlusconi was also convicted of abuse of office, after he ordered Ruby's release following her arrest for petty theft, which suggests the fabulously wealthy man hadn't paid his woman well enough.

He was committed to serve seven years in prison and declared unfit to hold a public office. He did not need to, ever again, just as he'll never need plastic surgery to retain youthful look.
