SIAYA, KENYA: The Siaya County government will conduct an inventory of all contractors to ensure youth who are able to tender for projects are not sidelined.

Governor Cornel Rasanga said the move is aimed enforcing the constitutional requirement that 30  per cent of tenders be allocated to the youth.

Rasanga urged the youth from the region to register companies to ensure they are not time-barred during floating of tenders.

“We wish to let you know that we shall empower our youth economically by ensuring that they are engaged in viable projects,” he said.

He pointed out that from early next year, his government will ensure that all youths over 18 years form registered youth groups to benefit from the various opportunities that may arise.

He also called upon members of the county assembly to endorse his previously appointed executive committee members.

Rasanga said he had no intentions of reviewing the names of those previously endorsed by the County Assembly, adding that the two executive slots which were still pending will be filled in due course.
