Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has once again hit out at the media in defiance of a court order that barred him from uttering defamatory statements against the sector.

Speaking during food distribution in Kimorori, Maragua constituency, over the weekend, Kuria made derogatory remarks about the media accusing it of supporting Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

He claimed that the media was fond of targeting leaders for selfish interests. "The same way you feel bad when I call you names and insult you is the same way we feel when you criticise us, unfairly," he said.

The media, he said, should allow the Kenya Kwanza government time to deliver on its manifesto and vowed to continue with the onslaught.

Last week High Court judge Justice Lawrence Mugambi barred the CS barred from attacking the media following a petition filed by Charles Mugane.

Mugane is seeking to have Kuria declared unfit to hold public office over attacks on the media.

This came after the CS spewed vitriol spewed against Nation Media Group over an expose' on illegal oil import tax exemptions linked to prominent personalities.

On Saturday, Kuria made unprintable remarks about the media during food donation in four constituencies in Murang'a where he was accompanied by Nominated MP Sabina Chege.

Speaking in Kandara constituency, Chege told the CS that majority of journalists uphold ethical standards.

"There could be some few journalists who are of ill character, but a large number are diligent and responsible," she said.

The Nominated MP defended journalists saying they are not biased and she has worked with them for ten years when she served as Murang'a Woman Representative.

On Jubilee wrangles, Chege urged former President Uhuru Kenyatta to hold a meeting with party members to address the transition challenges.

"We are not fighting but interested in promoting democratic space, and we are opposed to joining protests organized by Azimio," she said.

Recently, the Eala MP Kanini Kega-led Jubilee faction suffered a blow after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal barred them from convening an AGM or issuing communication on the party.
