Assembly rejects Ngilu pick for board

Governor Charity Ngilu was dealt a blow after the county Assembly yesterday rejected nominees to the County Public Service Board. 

By a majority vote, the MCAs rejected all the six nominees citing failure to meet academic threshold and professional experience. 

During the heated debate amid bribery claims from some MCAs, a section of the House voted for approval of three nominees, saying the governor should be allowed time to nominate another three. 

“Having considered the academic credentials of the nominees, their professional training and experience, the Assembly has rejected all the nominees submitted by the governor on February 14,”

Speaker George Ndoto announced during the Special Sitting. The rejection is a big blow to Ngilu who has operated without the employment board for close to eight months following the expiry of the term of the previous one. 

Two weeks ago, Ngilu hit out at Ndoto accusing him of holding her government hostage by failing to call a Special Sitting to discuss the nominees.
