Grammy Award-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy is set to perform in Kenya at the highly anticipated Mad Fun Experience. The concert will be held at the Nairobi's Uhuru Gardens on 1st of March.
But what has been the talk of town is his extravagant demands which according to reports, even the organisers agree it is scary curating such a humongous concert on Kenyan soil.
The Afrobeats star normally has a larger-than-life persona and he doesn't come cheap.
First of all, the 'African Giant' never travels light, it is reported that he will be expected to arrive with his entourage of over 60 people including his own band, and sound engineers.
Unlike most international artists who rely on local event organisers for equipment, Burna Boy insists on traveling with his own stage gear to ensure quality consistency in all his performances.
This means that everything from microphones to soundboards will be flown in at the event organiser's expense.
His mode of travel is just as exclusive. He only flies via private jet, a strict non-negotiable term in his contract.
Interestingly, the jet is solely for him and his close associates, while the rest of his team travels separately. Before any booking is made, his management team must thoroughly vet the aircraft to meet his standards.
Once in Kenya, his accommodations must also meet high standards. The Grammy- award winning star prefers only five-star hotels, and his suite must always be stocked with several bottles of still and carbonated spring water, as well as an assortment of fresh fruits.
Additionally, the hotel must provide a reserved smoking executive suite along with a green room that includes an exclusive smoking chamber where he and his team can relax when not performing.
Of course, all this luxury comes at a hefty price. His performance fee stands at a staggering sh128 million, making him one of the highest-paid musicians to perform in the country.
While these demands may seem somewhat excessive, riders play a crucial role in an artist's performance. A well-detailed rider ensures that an artist is physically and mentally prepared, guaranteeing that they deliver a top-notch performance for their fans.
