A fortnight after announcing the arrival of her bundle of joy, Kenyan singer Nyota Ndogo is at it again, this time confronting those who opined on the baby's complexion.
It all started when she posted the newborn's photo and said she knew she will be accused by some quarters of cheating due to the baby's appearance.
"Karibu nyumbani mwanangu.ila hii rangi sinitaambiwa nimechiti.yani umeamua nywele ndio uchukue ya baba rangi ndio hii yetu.karibu abdalla.(URITHI TUNAO)," she wrote.
On Wednesday, Nyota Ndogo, who is married to Henning Nielsen, posted a video asking why Kenyans bully each other on social platforms.
She said it was insensitive of some of her followers to troll her because she is human and is bound to be affected by what people say.
"I don't understand why someone would take a phone and write hurtful things on social media, insulting people they don't know.
"Do you know we are human too and catch feelings? I am never bothered with the things you say, but what has hurt me the most is talking ill of my newborn kid," she said.
Adding: "Wengine walisema mimba si ya mume wangu bali ni ya mpishi wa chapati...Chapati zenyewe nazipika mimi. Mnapoongea maneno mengine muwe mnapima."
Born, Mwanaisha Abdalla in Ukunda, Nyota Ndogo is the second of six children and the eldest among the girls. Her early struggles with education unfolded as she attended Makande Primary School but could not sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams due to financial constraints.
Forced to drop out of school after her mother couldn't afford the fees, she opted to work as a househelp.
In a prior interview with the Standard Group, she shared, "I took the job in my stride, unbothered by the little pay as it allowed me to nurture my music talent by listening to songs on television and radio that were absent back home.
"I would write and hum the songs, a habit that helped me perfect my talent. Luckily, my employer noticed my ambition and supported me, treating me as part of the family."
A fellow house help introduced her to music producer Andrew Burchell, aka Madebe, who recorded her debut album, Chereko.
