Duncan Khaemba and actor Shaniqua were injured in two separate incidences
KTN News Journalist Duncan Khaemba has been injured in line of duty as he covered Raila Odingás return to the country.
Khaemba together with his cameraman were at Nairobi’s Muthurwa Market where Raila Odinga’s entourage was driving through.
The news reporter was hit on the head when two groups clashed in the area. This was aftter violence erupted when the NASA supporters arrived at busy Muthurwa Market turning into a chaotic scene.
Businesses remained closed as the politicians made their way to Nairobi’s CBD and Kibera for their rally
Popular actor Kevatin Muthaka popularly known as Shaniqua has also been injured when he found himself locked in rowdy crowd.
The actor is also counting losses after his car was stoned in the unfortunate incident.
“Earlier today I was a victim of Mombasa road dramas let's pray guys for this nation thanks Hon Ababu namwamba he saved my life I guess being on TV is important,” he wrote on his social media posting photos of his car.
Raila Odinga returned today to Kenya after his trip abroad where he addressed US lawmakers and Congressmen at Center for Strategic and International Studies.
On arrival to JKIA he was received by thousands of supporters who accompanied his entourage as he made his way across the city.
Cases of violence have been widely reported as police and supporters clashed. The police have been criticized for interrupting peaceful supporters who were receiving their NASA leader.
The police had released a press statement saying that any public rally held would affect the ongoing KCSE examinations.
Attack on journalist have been rampant in country. A few weeks ago Citizen TV journalist Francis Gachuri was attacked by goons at Wiper party headquarters causing an uproar and criticism on political players.
Duncan Khaemba incident also comes a few weeks after he was arrested while reporting on police brutality in Kibera.
