A member of the Migori County Assembly has asked voters not to elect dark-skinned leaders if they want development.
Kwa Ward MCA, Odoyo Dara, left the crowed in stitches when he addressed a gathering attended by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and his Migori counterpart, Okoth Obado in Migori town.
The MCA who is also a Luo gospel singer, said that dark-skinned people do not make good leaders, and urged the people to go for leaders who are not “dark skinned".
He said: “Look at Ranguma, Kidero, Obado and even myself; we are not dark-skinned, and our leadership ability speaks volumes,” he said, much to the amusement of the crowd. It is not clear who the verbal chides were directed at, but the staunch supporter of Obado’s administration does not take lightly anyone who has contrary opinion to the said administration and believes he will be the governor in 2022 after Obado’s second term, according to the MCA.
Odoyo is known to give pregnant women money for “increasing votes” in the county.
