The music industry has experienced tremendous growth in terms of audio and video production in the past few years. Today, musicians spend a fortune in high end music videos so as to be able to compete in the fast growing industry where mediocre is no longer entertained.
We have seen various talented video directors coming up with great video concepts that do not only give artists value for their money but also gives viewers complete satisfaction.
Among the top and most revered video directors who have made a name for themselves in Africa, is South Africa’s Mike Ogoke popularly known as The Godfather.
The director has done most of the biggest African videos including Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz who recently played host to him and his crew. Yes! The Godfather was in East Africa recently to shoot one of Diamond’s upcoming video.
Their presence which was a hush hush affair saw them spend 5 days in Tanzania shooting the star’s video. Although Diamond and the director did not officially say something about the shoot, one of Godfather’s assistants let the cat out of the bag with an Instagram post he shared captioned “@i_am_godfather,@diamondplatnumz Taking a vessel to set! #Musicvideo #tanzania #diamondplatnumz #godfatherproduction.”
The assistant, known as Dube later shared another photo showing Diamond seated together with his WCB signee Harmonize and two elderly women followed by the caption “Tanzania day 4 @diamondplatnumz,@i_am_godfather,@shettaz #musicvideo.”
We are used to local artists flying outside for video shoots in exotic locations, however, Diamond has just proved that East Africa still has good locations and that artists do not need to follow directors out there but they can fly them in for the same. He is the first artist to ever host an international video director in Tanzania.
