Kenya National Union of Teachers has advised its members to venture into business rather than rely on their meagre salaries.
Knut National Executive Council Member Emily Mitto, said teachers have been living in poverty despite being regarded as educated people.
Speaking yesterday during the Bungoma Teacher’s Education Scheme Annual General Meeting held at Busakala Secondary School in Kabuchai constituency, Ms Mitto said that the recent strike depicted teachers as useless people who depended on their salaries to feed their families.
“It is high time we ventured into business to supplement what we earn,” she said.
