Residents of Eshirali Central village in Khwisero, Kakamega County, are still in shock after a man was caught engaging in a sexual act with a pregnant cow.

The accused, who had allegedly sneaked into the owner's homestead under the cover of darkness, was confronted by enraged residents. He was beaten and forced to flee half-naked, only to be arrested again and taken to Khwisero Police Station-accompanied by the cow.

The suspect, a man in his late 20s, is unmarried. According to Agrrey Imbumi, who claims to have caught him in the act, the suspect had tied the cow inside its shed before assaulting the animal.

"I was on my way to my daily activities following the usual path near my neighbour's compound when I heard unusual noises from the cowshed. Since the cow was heavily pregnant, I assumed it was about to give birth. But as I got closer, I was horrified to find a man I knew-half-naked-engaging in the despicable act," Imbumi recounted.

Shocked by what he had witnessed, Imbumi ran to seek help from a neighbour.

"We rushed back and found the cow tied up on the floor. As we attempted to untie it, the man tried to escape. However, by then, a crowd of furious residents had gathered, and they quickly apprehended him before subjecting him to a thorough beating," he said.

Imbumi claimed this was not the first such incident involving the suspect.

"This is the second time he has been caught with an animal. Last year, he was found engaging in a similar act with a goat. He managed to escape, but this time, the community was determined not to let him go unpunished," he added.

The owner of the cow, Leonida Angatia, confirmed that she had long suspected the man of sneaking into her homestead to violate her cattle, though she had never caught him in the act.

"Today was the day he got caught red-handed. Thank God his actions have now been exposed for all to see," she said.

Angatia demanded that the suspect's family provide her with another cow, stating that her household could no longer consume milk or meat from the affected animal.

"The cow is now considered impure. If it gives birth, we cannot drink its milk or slaughter it for meat-we will be forced to dispose of it," he said.
