Thierry Henry has denied suggestions he told Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal.

Sanchez completed his switch to Manchester United on Monday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction.

After his exit was confirmed, Sanchez penned an emotional message to Arsenal fans after three-and-a-half years with the club.

In the post, he also commented on how he spoke to Gunners legend Henry about the move.

Henry was slammed as a result with some Arsenal fans labelling the Frenchman a "snake".

“I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn,” Sanchez wrote.

But Henry took to Twitter to confirm he never told the Chilean to quit the club.

Henry was Arsenal's all-time top goal scorer when he left for Barcelona in 2007.

He would later rejoin the club on a short-term deal with the Frenchman even having a statue outside the Emirates. But for some Gunners fans, Henry has lost his legendary status after the claims about Sanchez.

Thierry Henry was part of the invincible squad that historically won the premier league title for Arsenal in 2002 without a single defeat. Henry became the league's top goal scorer and netted 32 goals in all competitions as he led Arsenal to a double and his first silverware with the club.

Seven years later after joining Arsenal, Henry was transferred to Barcelona in an unexpected turn of events for €24 million where he signed a four-year deal for a reported €6.8 million per season. He was an integral part of the Catalans’ historic treble when they won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League. He went to Barcelona to win more trophies.

Other players who left Arsenal for other teams are Robin Van Persie who left Arsenal in 2012 to join rivals Manchester United where he won the 2012-2013 Premier League and finished as the league's top scorer with 26 goals, winning his second consecutive Premier League Golden Boot award. Cesc Fàbregas who left London on 15 August 2011 to return to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £35 million after a protracted transfer saga. During his three-year spell at the Camp Nou, Fàbregas played alongside Xavi and Andrés Iniesta and won a La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and two Spanish Super Cups.
