The recent disclosure by most human rights organizations and court reports about the alarming number of defilement cases in families and schools is a clear indication that those who commit such crimes get away with it.
It is absurd when a teacher, police officer, parent or a professional becomes the attacker of a child in their care. This robs the children of their innocence and in some cases leaves their private parts badly damaged and their families have to bear the hospital bills.
Law enforcers should thoroughly investigate defilement cases to ensure the culprits face the law. The police and the Judiciary must ensure justice is served. Only harsh penalties will deter rapists.
