NAIROBI: Jubilation hit Light Academy 8-4-4 Schools in Nairobi and Mombasa after last year’s KCPE candidates posted impressive performances.
In Nairobi’s branch of the school, Don Opiyo Grands scored 420 marks, leading the class of 14.
The least mark scored was 348, with the school registering a mean score of 383, an improvement from 2014’s mean of 344. Four other candidates scored over 400 marks.
According to the schools’ Education Coordinator Ismail Kucuk, the school has registered impressive increase in average score and individual performance since 2005.
“We are impressed by the results although it is not exactly where we want to be.

“Our achievement this year will assist us set a fresh target. It is the beginning of big things and we are ready for it,” said Mr Kucuk.
Jubilant neighbours, parents, teachers and candidates stormed the school compound to celebrate the results a day after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i made them public.
“Gratitude goes to our director, the tireless parents and the school administration for their support and cooperation,” said Kucuk.
At the Mombasa branch, Innocent Malomba Namwamba led the class of 17 with 410 marks. Others with more than 400 marks include Ibrahim Chaka Azizi (409), Johnson Kisombe (404) and Joseph Ongaya’s (402).
Kucuk said the branch posted a mean score of 375 marks.
“Both our schools have done us proud. The results have made the next class more energised and ready to scale up the score ladder,” he added.
