Nyeri, Kenya: A ward rep caused a stir in court yesterday when he requested for police escort to the bank to withdraw Sh100,000 cash to clear a bail.
Marete Ringera, the Narumoru-Kiamathaga MCA ignited laughter in the Nyeri Chief Magistrate's Court when he requested for security as he went to withdraw cash to clear the bail he had just been slapped with.
The MCA was in court charged with causing disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
The charges related to a recent incident when the MCA allegedly incited a mob to chase away officials of the National Transport and Safety Authority and Police officers manning a roadblock at Chaka Town on September 30.
