KENYA: World’s largest search engine, Google has today joined millions of Kenyan’s across the globe in celebrating the Kenya@50 event currently taking place at the Safaricom Stadium-Kasarani.  

They have done this by uploading a special doodle on its homepage bearing a Kenyan flag replacing the ‘o’ in the Google logo, and which is intended to commemorate Kenya’s birthday. The event is attended by more than twenty heads of states and governments.

This is the second time Google is honoring the country after ealier on uploading a special doodle on its homepage across Sub Sahara in honor of fallen Nobel laureate Prof Wangari Maathai  by celebrating what would have been her 73rd birthday in April 2013.


In the doodle, a figure of a smiling Prof Maathai replaces the second “o” in the Google logo, which was created by the Google Doodle team, and was intended to commemorate Maathai’s myriad achievements.
