Psychologist Wandia Maina of Phoenix Training Solutions says that parents who post about their toddlers are attention seekers. “What is the purpose of posting your baby photos for people who don’t even know you? Why not share them privately on WhatsApp?” she asked, adding that parents who like posting such pictures online are only looking for approval from the masses.

“These are the same people who keep checking how many people are commenting on their posts. They are overcompensating for admiration and support that they lack from family and friends. People need to be sensitive and understand that it might bother others who are struggling to get pregnant or even afford what they are showing off.”

While she condemns showing off on social media she wants ‘haters’ to calm down. “The reason there is so much bullying on social media is because most people are just bitter. If you think someone is showing off too much, you should just ignore or unfollow them. There is no need to stoop to their level and begin a war with someone you have never met,” she says.
