President Ruto visited Ruaraka, Nairobi county, yesterday, where he made couple of promises residents

During his visit the Commander in Chief, was applauded after he ordered the construction on Baba Dogo grounds to be halted, ordered police to vacate the grounds which was previously claimed by private entities to be given back to community.

“I hear that there are police officers present in that field. I am giving a directive that the police officers must leave the field immediately. They should vacate the area because that field belongs to the citizens,” he said.

In addition, the president made several promises aiming to improve the lives of the residents.

He pledged on creating employment opportunities to the youth, particularly through affordable housing.

He also vowed to restore Nairobi River, within unspecified period, committing to clean, remove the sewage water and litter off the water body, and make it safe for marine life to thrive. “We will clean it until fish can live in it again,” he said.

Other key promises include construction of roads, establishing children playing area and development of affordable housing for the residents.

The promises, however, sparked criticism among different factions of Kenyans with some claiming that he won’t fulfil any of his promises.

One social media user, Cornelius, commented “this is the 4th year with that same promise.”

Another user, Kelvin said, commented, “the same person who withdrew Kazi kwa Vijana program is now promising youth jobs, we all know how he is lying,” with most population claiming the promises are all lies, another sectors agreed with the president fully and showed interest aligns.

In his visit to ruaraka he was joined by the area MCA Victor Omondi and MP Ruaraka TJ Kajwang’ where a section of the public heckled and booed the ODM lawmaker without considering the presence of the president.
