Self-proclaimed Raila Odinga diehard Calvince 'Gaucho' Okoth has sparked online debate after awarding fellow supporters Omosh One Hour and Nywele SOS cash gifts for their loyalty to the former Prime Minister.
In a now-viral video, Gaucho is seen distributing money between the two, following a complaint by Omosh One Hour, who lamented that despite his unwavering support for the ODM leader, he remained impoverished and jobless.
Gaucho reassured him of more support, pledging an additional Sh50,000 to cater for a funeral at his rural home. He justified the cash reward as recognition for Omosh's continued allegiance to a host of political leaders.
"Hii pesa nakupea usupport biashara ya wife alafu pesa ya matanga nitakutafutia Sh50,000. Nakupea pesa kwa sababu unasupport Raila Odinga, Opiyo Wandayi, Mbadi, Raymond Omollo na William Samoei Ruto," Gaucho stated.

He also promised to help Omosh set up a job or business of his choice.
"Alafu ujipange job ama biashara unataka tuweke budget yako alafu tutajua vile tutashughulikia," he added.
Nywele SOS also received a cash donation from Gaucho, who pledged to send an extra Sh5,000, lauding Nywele's consistency and encouraging him to stay loyal.
"We ni rafiki yangu unasupport Raila Odinga hujawahi enda ivi ivi, umeremain loyal. Nitakuongeza five thousand lakini ii unaweza jisupport nayo. Kuwa loyal kabisa. Usisahau Raila Odinga, William Ruto, Opiyo Wandayi, Raymond Omollo na Mbadi," said Gaucho.
The political influencer went on to urge the two supporters to steer clear of demonstrations and instead back both Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, whom he described as key leaders.
"Lakini ile ya muhimu ni Raila na William Samoei Ruto. Wachana na wale wa maandamano," he said.
The incident drew mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media platform X. Some users criticised the gesture, accusing leaders of misusing public funds to maintain loyalty.
One user commented: "Our forefathers are turning in their graves. Selling the future of their children for a mere 50k, that 50k cannot even start a Kisiagi business."
Another wrote: "Now they are bribing people to continue supporting mzee? Mzee probably only has 1% following left, not even 2%. Retiring is also a good option, no need to cling on like a cat on a screen."
One also expressed concern over alleged misuse of taxpayer money: "Yaani this is my tax money being misused in this manner, baba my foot."
