Mwangi Kanice, a torchbearer of authentic Kenyan Mugithi music now based in Texas, has unveiled his powerful new single, 'Dear Suzzie'.

This heartfelt track, rooted firmly in the traditional Kikuyu folk style popularised by legends like One Man Guitar, is captivating audiences on both sides of the different worlds.

The song's power lies in its raw honesty. 'Dear Suzzie' is a true story, directly inspired by a personal experience in Kanice's own life.

He channels this authenticity into the soulful guitar work and emotive vocals characteristic of genuine Mugithi, creating a deeply resonant piece for his listeners.

Kanice passionately serves the Kenyan diaspora community across Texas and beyond.

He tailors his Mugithi performances for "Watu wa Murima" scattered worldwide, performing covers of classic hits by icons like Kamarũ, D.K wa Maria, John Ndichu, and CDM Kiratu at weddings, rũracio ceremonies, birthday parties, clubs, baby showers, and even leading Kĩgoco in church. His music is a vital cultural lifeline.

Raised in Kiairegi village, Murang’a County, with Kikuyu as his mother tongue, he states definitively: "Authenticity comes from within... My environment does not affect that."

Fans got their first thrilling taste of 'Dear Suzzie' live when Kanice curtain rose for Samidoh at his Dallas show last month.
