Zachariah Kariuki, popularly known as KK Mwenyewe, has died after a short illness.

The comedian, who rose to fame for his humorous impersonations of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, passed away while undergoing treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.

His death was confirmed by fellow comedian and content creator Kafengo in a heartfelt message posted on Facebook.

“We Are Heartbroken To Announce The Sudden Demise Of Zakaria Kariuki A.k.a Mr Kk Mwenyewe. He Passed Away Yesterday Evening While Undergoing Medical Attention At Kiambu Level 5 Hospital,” he wrote.

“During This Sad Moments We Ask For Support And Prayers, To The Family And Friends May God Give Us Strength at This Difficult Times,” he added.

Kariuki rose to prominence in 2022 for his spot-on mimicry of Gachagua’s accent and mannerisms.

At the time, he was a Computer Engineering student at Kisii University.

His impressive mastery of the former Deputy President’s tone and delivery earned him widespread admiration, with his videos drawing significant attention across social media platforms.

On TikTok, Kariuki had amassed over 1.1 million followers and garnered 19.5 million likes.

His Facebook presence was equally notable, boasting more than 411,000 followers and thousands of engagements on his posts.

His final skit, shared on July 4, depicted a humorous take on how drug tests have barred many from job opportunities.

Kariuki's uncanny impersonations and comedic talent earned him a loyal fan base both online and offline.
