Police have arrested a man suspected to have snatched a pistol from injured Tana North OCPD Gabriel Kuya.

Coast PPO James Adoli said police liaised with the community, which saw the suspect, surrender the firearm to the police. This was after the force warned the locals of unspecified consequences if they failed to hand over the gun.

"We have arrested the main suspect and we hope he will give us more information concerning the attack of two police officers," said Adoli.

He also added that police have been deployed to hunt more other suspects involved in the attack in which two firearms were stolen from them.

"We have moved our camps from Mombasa to the region to restore order," Adoli said.

He said police are investigating the reason behind the attack of the OCPD by the local youth, in which his vehicle was also burnt.

There are, however, claims of rivalry between two matatu associations.

Adoli said the OCPD was in a stable condition at the Forces Memorial hospital where he was undergoing specialized treatment following the attack at Madogo near Garissa town.
