Fatherhood is more than a single act

James Kambewa, the ‘sire’ of Mercy James, the little Malawian girl soon to be adopted by pop star Madonna made an intriguing statement regarding her birth.

He stated: "When the child was born, I was never told!" His message to Madonna was, "As a child growing up, she must be informed I am her biological father."

Why the sudden interest when he did not previously claim her at the children’s orphanage? Did he sense the possibility of a huge pay off from Madonna?

His statement exemplifies the typical low parenting standards of many African men. Men must learn to take responsibility for their actions.

Fatherhood is much more than engaging in a single sexual act, which even cats execute with amazing dexterity!
