Martin Imbalambala has been reinstated as AFC Leopards captain after the players elected the defensive midfielder during a crisis meeting on Thursday at the training ground.
Dutch coach Pieter De Jongh had stripped the Ingwe captaincy from the utility player and handed the armband to former Sofapaka skipper James Situma, the appointment that did not go down well with most of the players.
But after a meeting convened by the Allan Kasavuli-led national executive committee to discuss what was been ailing their beloved club in the past few weeks, the players raised several issues ranging from leadership, fielding favouratism to delayed allowances as the reason for the team's poor performance in the Kenyan Premier League.
Since beating Gor Mahia 3-1 in the Mashemeji derby, the club has gone four matches without winning with the recent 2-1 defeat to Mathare United leaving Ingwe seven points above the relegation zone.
It's after last weekend's loss that upset Ingwe fans confronted the officials, technical bench and the players urging them to hold a crisis meeting.

And as part of the resolutions, performance contracts have been issued to both the playing unit and the technical bench with new captains appointed.
"There has been a lot of disharmony, no team work and leadership was one of the conflicting issues that contributed to the team's poor performance. It's because of this reason that players elected Imbalambala as the captain and Okwemba (Charles) as his assistant," said Deputy Secretary General Prof Asava Kadima.
"We've introduced performance contracts and everybody must take responsibility. It'll be no longer a blanket condemnation as each member of the playing unit and the technical bench will be evaluated periodically and accounted to their own individual output."
"Players also complained of being treated unfairly and unequally by the technical bench, but that's now a story of the past as both parties have agreed to work together and improve the team's performance. The fans and management also assured the players of their support," he added.
The official further revealed that the NEC is working on reinstatement of goalkeeper trainer Washington Muhanji, who's under suspension after falling out with De Jongh.
In attendance was Secretary General George Aladwa, Timothy Lilumbi (Org. Secretary) and former Leopards players namely Peter Lichungu, Ben Musuku, Boniface Ambani and Reginald Asibwa.
