Keter presented himself before police on Tuesday at Nairobi Area CID offices where he was grilled. Keter told The Standard he had been summoned to explain what he knows about the girl’s death. “I don’t know why they are doing this because they have even summoned the girl’s parents. We have nothing to hide,” he said. The legislator said as a family, they want those responsible for the girl’s death apprehended and charged. The 25-year-old student attended a party hours before her body was found on Waiyaki Way, allegedly having been run over by cars. Her family disputed police claims that she died of an accident. Crucial leads The summoning of Keter comes days after Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko returned the investigation file to police and ordered a number of crucial leads investigated. He ordered statements recorded from identified witnesses, compilation of crime scene and forensic evidence, review and analysis of CCTV footage. On Tuesday, Keter questioned why a toxicology report on Mercy had taken too long to be released. He said the report is allegedly lying at the Government Chemist. A post-mortem examination report revealed that Mercy suffered severe head injuries, multiple fractures on the arms, legs and other parts of her body were covered with bruises. Tobiko sent two senior prosecuting counsel from his office to guide the process of investigations. He met Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere for guidance. “Police will at the conclusion of the investigations take action against all culprits connected with the deceased’s death as provided by the law,” assured Iteere.
