A suspected shoplifter missed death by a whisker after she was found stealing at a Nyahururu supermarket.
The woman was found picking Bibles at Spear Supermarket worth Sh14,500.
According to witnesses, the woman was in the company of two men in suits, but they escaped unnoticed. It is then that the supervisors noticed the goods stashed in her handbag and arrested her.
Wananchi threatened to lynch her.

"How can one steal the word of God if the world is not coming to an end? This woman should be killed instead," an angry resident was heard saying.
After hours of interrogation by residents, the woman confessed that this was her routine job, which she carried out in various towns.
"We are a group of two women and three men who shoplift in Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Nyahururu. This is as a result of abject poverty and I beg for forgiveness," she said yesterday.
It was upon the arrival of police that she was rescued and locked up at Nyahururu Police Station.
Nyandarua OCPD Jasper Ombati said the suspect would be arraigned in court.
