At least 14 people were Wednesday morning killed after a Nairobi-bound bus from Garissa rammed into a stationary lorry in Matuu area, Machakos County.
The dead included ten men, two women and a child.
Several people were injured and rushed to Matuu Level-Four Hospital.
Yatta police boss Njoroge Karanja said the incident happened at about 5 am and it is not clear why the driver of the lorry did not place warning signs on the road to caution other users.
This is the latest accident to happen in the past week where more than 20 people have been killed. The others happened along Nakuru-Nairobi highway and Mombasa highway.
Fatal accidents are common and most incidents blamed on driving errors and bad roads.
