A 35-year-old man was yesterday charged with two counts of defilement and procuring an abortion for a minor.

Charles Koronya has denied defiling a 17-year-old Form Three student on December 19, 2018, and later helping her procure an abortion at an unknown place and time.

Resident Magistrate Edward Tshimonjero released him on a Sh200,000 bond and surety of the same amount.

The case will be mentioned on February 28, 2019 and heard on April 4, 2019.

In the same court, another suspect admitted to the charges of defiling a minor but told the court that she was his wife.

Rogers Kariuki pleaded guilty to charges of defilement and touching a 17-year-old girl inappropriately at Gitimbine estate in Meru town.

However, the court entered a not guilty plea and ruled that he was not fit to be granted bail. The case will be heard on April 10.
