Kangema High School has been closed to help the administration seek alternative accommodation for students after a mysterious fire razed one dormitory.

DC Fred Muli said only this year’s candidates have been left behind.

"The students have been sent home as the board of governors looks for alternative accommodation. Only candidates have been left behind to prepare for their examinations," said Muli.

Last year, the institution was closed after students went on rampage and attempted to torch a dormitory.

At Gaichanjiru Secondary School, a student died in a rampage this year.

At the same time, Murang’a East DC George Natembeya has urged students to remain focused on education and shun alcoholism and drug abuse.

He spoke when the proprietor of Text Book Centre, Mr Buchubhai Shah, donated textbooks, television sets and sewing machines to the school, which is named after his grandfather.
