The last time award winning Congolese singer Fally Ipupa was in Kenya was 2009 when he performed his song Bicarbonate at the MTV MAMA's. Fally started his career singing in a choir before becoming part of various singing groups in Kinshasa, DRC where he was born. He gained official recognition when he teamed up with a bunch of artistes branded as Latent Talents to record an album.

Soon after, he was recruited by Koffi Olomide to be part of his Quartier Latin where he was soon promoted to be the bands conductor. He features prominently in several albums as well as singing duet with Koffi Olomide in the album Effrakata. He recorded his first solo album Droit Chemin in 2001.

Selling over 100,000 copies, it placed him firmly on the map as a Lingala musician of note with singles like Liputa, Orgassy and Siputa. His second album Arsenal De Belles Melodies has also been a success as well as proof of his versatility with influences of hip-hop, R&B and jazz are sprinkled across the album.

The album contains single like Chaise Electronic featuring Olivia and the catchy Sexy dance. He was also part of the One8 group that featured Amani, 2face Idibia and R Kelly among others.

Fun fact: Fally, who will be headlining the Sawa Sawa festival next weekend, is also known by his nicknames Di Caprio and La Marveille.
