Harambee Stars head for the Arabian Gulf this morning to play Yemen in a single friendly international on Friday.

The trip comes hardly a week after Stars had taken on the Indomitable Lions in another friendly they lost 3-1.

Harambee Stars coach Twahir Muhiddin has surprisingly dropped teenage sensation George Odhiambo from the squad that travels to Yemen.

According to Muhiddin, the Gor Mahia striker has dipped in form and has been replaced by another Gor youngster and schoolboy Kevin Omondi.

Failed to impress

"Odhiambo needs to regain his form and we have given him time to do that," said Muhiddin.

The Gor striker had just a few minutes of the friendly match against Cameroon on Saturday, but failed to impress.

He was last year named the country’s most promising player during the Kenya Premier League (KPL) awards ceremony.

Apart from Odhiambo, Muhiddin has also left out Gor Mahia defender Christopher Wekesa who was injured at the weekend.

His his place has been taken by Mulinge Ndetto who comes back to the team after close to a year’s absence.

Four players Egdar Ochieng, John Onami, James Situma and Wilson Oburu all from Premier League champions Sofapaka have also been dropped due to club commitments.

Sofapaka are to fly out to the Democratic Republic of Congo this weekend for a series of friendly matches ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign.

Another player making a comeback into the team is Mathare United goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng, who joins Thika United’s David Okello in goal.
