Corruption is an issue we have been trying to tackle for so many years but it has proved to be a fruitless battle.
This is simply because the people we look upon as our leaders and protectors are the most corrupt. This leaves the common mwananchi prone to harassment and intimidation by the people we go to for refuge — the police.
In Machakos for example almost every businessperson can testify to being ripped off of thousands of shillings by the police. You are arrested for all manner of petty traffic offences that they come up with and have to part with between Sh500 to Sh5,000. Please police officers, stop harassing the public. We are tired of ‘kitu kidogo’.
